Fix the problem not adjust the screen brightness on Windows 10 by the driver

Some users after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or 8.1 have encountered a problem of customizing the brightness for the screen. This is quite annoying when the screen is too bright or too dark that can not adjust, cause is not compatible driver.

To Fix the problem not adjust the screen brightness on Windows 10, you can try the following:

Method 1:

Find and fix this register:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SYSTEM \

Next, find the two keys KMD_EnableBrightnesslf2 and KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2 and change the value to 0.

Reboot the machine.

Method 2:

Step 1: From the Search box, type Device Manager. Then open the Device Manager app.

Step 2: Find the Display adapters on the list. Expand the selection and right click on the driver. Select Update Driver Software from the menu.

Step 3: Then choose Search automatically for updated driver software.


Step 4: Windows 10 will automatically connect to the Internet to connect and find the driver you need.

Windows will automatically install the driver after download and the message Windows has successfully updated your driver software. It also shows the details of the hardware drivers.

If the above solution does not fix the situation then the great possibility is that the manufacturer of the video card on your computer does not provide new drivers compatible with Windows 10. 

And try the following solutions:

Step 1: Type in the search box to find Device Manager. Then open the Device Manager app.

Step 2: Find the Display adapters on the list. Expand the selection and right click on the driver. Select Update Driver Software from the menu. Same as above.


Step 3: Browse to my computer for driver software.

Step 4: Select Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer.


Step 5: Right below the Show compatible hardware option, select the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter on the list. Click Next to continue.


Windows will restart and the base driver will follow the Windows 10 installation. You can now adjust the screen brightness to normal.
